Melt In the Sunshine

With my crumpled cigarette stashed beside my stale baguette
I leave my eyes to feast upon you smiling
I may be what I smoke that’s why I look like a joke
You’ve got me in a trance, just so beguiling

Maybe we’re only made of paper for we tear
Like this I’ve never felt
And ice cream tends to melt in the sunshine

No matter what I say I can’t make you change your way
And in a sense that makes my love for you grow fonder
You’re weak but growing strong and the workin day is long
So it gives me all the time I need to wonder

Maybe we’re only made of tinder for we burn
Like this I’ve never felt
And ice cream tends to melt in the sunshine

No matter what you say you can’t change the night to day
You cannot make me say what I’m not feeling
And in these times of doubt some things I can do without
I may not be standing straight, I sure ain’t kneeling

Maybe we're made of something stronger for we sustain
Like this I’ve never felt
And ice cream tends to melt in the sunshine
